“In light of Michelle Obama’s burgeoning impact on world consciousnessÑwith her photographs appearing on the covers of Vogue, New York, O, Newsweek, Essence, and Ebony and on the front pages of newspapers worldwideÑthis is an exciting time to reflect on America’s new First Lady. The notion of ‘seeing the best of ourselves in her’ is reflected in gazes from young girls everywhere, from Washington DC’s Anacostia neighborhood to students at the Elizabeth Garret Anderson Secondary School in London. Inevitably, she is admired by an extraordinary and diverse range of peopleÑfrom inner-city schoolchildren to the queen of England.”

Not since Jackie O has a First Lady enchanted Americans as much as Michelle Obama. Now this beautiful, pictorial story takes us on the journey of Michelle’s dramatic transformation from working mother to First Lady, from her first tentative steps on the campaign trail to her spontaneous hug of the Queen, to her fairy-tale-like “date night” on Broadway and beyond. With nearly 200 photographs, this stunning, visual biography not only showcases the impeccable, elegant yet down-to-earth style we adore, but also provides thoughtful commentary as well as an easy-to-follow historical context that demonstrates how Michelle Obama represents the true culmination of America’s evolving views on women, race, motherhood and beauty.

This book is wonderful gift to give to any young lady who has dreams and aspirations to be successful and productive. It will inspire and encourage her to work toward her goals. I gave it as a birthday gift to my thirty five year old successful daughter whom I'd like to see in the White House or as a US Ambassador one day. I am ordering another copy for myself to display proudly on my coffee table for friends to read and admire. I am reasonably certain that more will be purchased to give as gifts in the future.
