Midnight

Sister Souljah’s runaway bestseller The Coldest Winter Ever introduced readers to Midnight, a brave, smart, humble and dangerously attractive young lieutenant to underworld businessman Santiaga. Now, she brings readers into the heart and mind of this silent, fearless, loyal man as he maneuvers against the odds and defends his way of life in this powerful story about love and loyalty, strength and survival. Raised in a wealthy, powerful African Islamic family, Midnight is comfortable, confident and protected. However, his father never lied to him about the difference between the extreme love that he received at home and the dangerous challenges of the world. When Midnight’s father’s empire is attacked, he sends Midnight to live with his mother in the States. On the streets of Brooklyn, New York, young Midnight uses his African intelligence and Muslim mindset to protect his loved ones and reclaim his wealth and way of life. Sister Souljah will sweep you from continent to continent and culture to culture with her “raw and true voice” (Publishers' Weekly) that both soothes and arouses, and Midnight will remain in your mind and beat in your heart for a lifetime.

Great Book
November 14, 2009

I abosolutely loved the book. People who are considering buying the book should be well aware that this is not a continuation of the Coldest Winter Ever. The book gave us a different perspective of Midnight and showed us who he really is deep down inside. The book starts off slow but is detailed nicely to allow the reader to feel as if they are walking along with Midnight and experiencing what he has went through. The book leaves you wanting more and I truly hope Sister Souljah comes out with a sequel to this book And last but not least for all the Black Expression readers remember to not always follow the reviews that are posted because everyone is different and likes different things. I personally alost did not buy the book because of the feedback but in the end I am glad that I went ahead and read it to get my own opinion of the book. Once again this is a great book.:)

Very well written
October 30, 2009

I am giving this one 3 stars because it was well written . I was so excited when I got this book and I could not wait to start reading it. I had set myself up only to be disappointed. At times I found some of the scenes unbelievable for a child to have actually accomplished. There were discrepancies between this book and CWE I found myself pulling CWE off my bookshelf many times to compare one to the other. Although it was well written I wasn't crazy about this one. I sent an email to sister souljah's website and she responded by saying that there will be another book that will tie CWE and Midnight together. Hopefully it won't be in another 10 years.
