Rihanna didn’t live to see her dream—a reunion of her close-knit group of college friends—come true, but now beautiful Baldwin, handsome Brenden, playa Christopher and party girl Bria are gathering again at Rihanna’s funeral in rural North Carolina. These four haven’t spoken in more than a decade, since the tumultuous breakup of lovers Brenden and Baldwin tore their ties of friendship to shreds. Now, Baldwin’s relationship is stagnant, Brenden’s marriage is collapsing, Christopher is suffering in unrequited love…and the normally cheerful Bria has a secret that’s tearing her apart. As they finally meet again, can they honor Rihanna’s memory by picking up the pieces and making up for lost time? Or will past mistakes cloud their future?

This story started of fairly well friends reuniting after years of estrangement. Then the author did something that left me confused by one of the so call surprise which didn't make any real sense in the story when revealed. I really wish authors would stop this surprise injection that is showing up in many novel by African American authors as of late. There are some novel I don't want to read about and would appreciate if authors RESPECT their reading audience ability to choose what they like to read about.
This book started off promising........friends getting together after the death of another friend after being apart for years and old feelings and drama coming to the surface......but it fell flat. This was NOT ERP's best work. The so-called twists were predictable and the "major" twist was surprising but not shocking.
