David Weber is an American author of fantasy science fiction books who is often compared to C.S. Forester (the celebrated creator of Captain Horatio Hornblower, on whom Weber’s own Honor Harrington is largely based) and is the recipient of the sort of critical praise once reserved for such authors as Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asimov. David Weber’s books range from epic fantasy novels (Oath of Swords, The War God’s Own) to breathtaking “space opera” fantasy (Path of the Fury, The Armageddon Inheritance) to military science fiction books with in–depth characterization (the celebrated and awesomely popular fantasy science fiction Honor Harrington series; Ashes of Victory made it to the New York Times bestsellers list, and the latest installment in the series is War of Honor). David Weber books are well worth reading, as his attention to detail in characterization and military/space technology summons up echoes of Jules Verne and Heinlein at the same time. Without a doubt, he is becoming one of the great writers of fantasy science fiction books of late 20th and early 21st centuries. At one time, David Weber was the owner of a small advertising and public relations agency, but now writes full time. He and his wife, Sharon, live in Greenville, South Carolina, with their three children and “a passel of dogs.”
