This exciting five-book set, geared to young readers, is a wonderful introduction to inspiring African-American lives. Help your child discover the incredible stories of Martin Luther King, Jr., who tirelessly promoted his message of peace and equality; of George Washington Carver, who found 325 ways to use the peanut and helped feed people during a food shortage; of Wilma Rudolph, who struggled with Polio as a young child yet won her first Olympic medal at age 16; of Jackie Robinson, who was one of the first African Americans to ever play on a white baseball league; and of Sojourner Truth, a lifelong fighter of slavery and champion of women’s rights. Each book features more than 30 full-color photos. Ages 4-8.

Although these books were designed for ages 4-8 I expected them to be more informative. I felt like there were important facts missing which was kind of disappointing. They are more like books of facts & photos rather than biographies, my son and I got more info from the net.
